⚠️ Fraud Alert: Beware of Phishing Emails Impersonating City Officials
The FBI is warning the public about an emerging phishing scam in which criminals impersonate city officials to request fraudulent payments for planning and zoning permits.
🚨 Remember: The City of Laguna Niguel will NEVER request payment by email, wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or payment apps.
Before making any payment:
✅ Verify the sender's email address and look for misspellings or unusual domain names.
✅ Do not assume an email is legitimate because it uses City logos, official names, or professional formatting.
✅ Confirm any outstanding permit fees through the City's Online Permit Center or by calling (949) 362-4300.
Think before you click. Staying vigilant is one of the best ways to protect yourself from phishing scams.
📞 If you have any questions, please contact OCSD - Laguna Niguel Police Services at (949) 362-4346.
