San Clemente, CA — Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens, a nonprofit southern California cultural center, is proud to announce its upcoming Open Casa exhibition The Idle Hour: Irvine Museum Collection at the University of California, Irvine. The Irvine Museum Collection at the University of California, Irvine, valued at approximately $17 million with about 1,200 artworks, is the most significant collection that Casa Romantica has exhibited to date, and the first that is loaned straight from an institution.

Casa Romantica will showcase 23 of the most significant holdings of The Irvine Museum Collection at the University of California, Irvine in Casa Romantica’s stunning Spanish Revival exhibition space and cultural center by the sea.

Casa Romantica Executive Director Berenika D. Palys has curated the selection, which presents a variety of interpretations of quietude through California landscapes and figurative works.

Opening reception information

When: Friday, November 9 @ 6-8 PM
Where: Art Gallery at Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens
What: Selection of 23 California Impressionist artworks from the Irvine Museum Collection at the University of California, Irvine
Details: Casa Romantica Executive Director/Exhibition Curator Berenika D. Palys and Irvine Museum Collection at the University of California, Irvine President James Irvine Swinden will be present • Complimentary wine and cheese

Entry to The Idle Hour: The Irvine Museum Collection at the University of California, Irvine is free on the night of the opening reception. Afterward, entry is free with general admission to Casa Romantica ($5 for ages 13 and up, free for ages 0-12).

Mr. James Irvine Swinden will give a guest talk for the Casa Up Close lecture series at Casa Romantica on Thursday,  January 17, 2019, at 7 PM
